Why Combine Chocolate with THC and CBD?

There are few foods that people feel as passionate about as chocolate — a passion that goes well beyond a love for the taste and sweetness of chocolate. For the true chocoholic, just thinking about chocolate can evoke a feeling of positive emotions.

Chocolate has been known for being everything from an anti-depressant to an aphrodisiac. While there’s still much we don’t know about chocolate, recent research is helping us better understand how chocolate consumption affects our health.

Researchers at the Neurosciences Institute in San Diego, California believe that chocolate contains pharmacologically active substances that produce the same “feel good” effects as marijuana. THC and CBD, of course, are not found in chocolate. Instead, another chemical and neurotransmitter, anandamide, has been. Anandamide, like other neurotransmitters, is broken down quickly after it’s produced. However, scientists have found chemicals in chocolate that inhibit and slow down the natural breakdown of anandamide. This means that eating chocolate, can prolong and extend the “good feelings” you experience from the natural production of anandamide or introduced anandamide.

*Chocolate contains more than 300 known chemicals, some of which increase levels of serotonin and dopamine in the brain and help relieve stress, and improve and enhance mood.
